North Carolina Consumers' Council, Inc. Records, 1970-1989

The North Carolina Consumers' Council (NCCC), a non-profit, non- partisan organization established in 1968, to disseminate information about consumer products and services; conduct reserach relating to professional and business practices of interest to consumers; advocate for consumers with merchants, government offices, and others; and sponsor and lobby for legislation to protect and better serve consumers. NCCC office files including board notes; consumer information relating to the Consumer Federation of America (CFA); financial notes; NCCC bylaws; materials on special issues, including deregulation of various industries, hospital inflation, and taxes; legislative information; materials relating to research projects; and other items. Printed materials include books, pamphlets, and other items relating to the work of the NCCC and other organizations.There are also several files relating to the Advisory Budget Commission, the National Consumers' League, the State Council for Social Legislation, and other organizations, as well as miscellaneous materials on various subjects with which the NCCC was concerned.
